Dr. Tumi (born Tumishang Makweya; 10 July 1981 in Sheshego-B, Polokwane) is a South African medical doctor and vocalist. Dr. Tumi is also a songwriter, instrumentalist, and singer.
He studied medicine at the Medical University of Southern Africa (Mendusa) for six years. Dr. Tumi started his own medical practice after completing his studies.
In 2007, he began recording and joined Intense, a music group. In the wake of moving, for reasons most popular to him, he left the group while at the same time completing his solo performance venture.
Dr. Tumi walked into fame after dropping his hit album titled, “Heart of a King“. The album got him the 2012 Best RnB Gospel Award at the SABC Crown Gospel Music Award.
His musical endeavours saw him share the stage with the likes of Mary Mary, Yolanda Adams, Israel Houghton, Joyous Celebration, Hlengiwe Mhlaba, Benjamin Dube, Vuyo Mokoena, Jabu Hlongwane and other members of the Joyous Celebration.
He continues to use both music and medicine to impact lives the of people.
