Sjava (whose birth name is Jabulani Hadebe) has been writing music since an early age in his life. At ten he was already writing music for his isicathamiya group called 'Abafana baseMpumalanga'.

His passion for composition eventually saw him receiving a SAMA (South African Music Award) for best produced album for the work he did on his debut album 'Isina Muva' - derived from a Zulu poem meaning 'late bloomer'.

Since then he has gone to produce work for Mzansi Magic telenovela 'Isithembiso', and also being featured on a Black Panther soundtrack album which was curated by rapper Kendrick Lamar.
