About Subconsciously
This project is a reflection of the veteran DJ's growth in sound as well as expansion in global reach, featuring artists such as Jinadu, Pharrell Williams and Cassie. Subconsciously, along with every other project created by Black Coffee is laced with his smooth and moody grooves he is well known and loved for. Although what makes this body of work unique is the uncharacteristic demand for stillness, since the DJ is famous for creating music that pulses with movement. It is the concept of ''stillness'' which makes the album more relevant during the COVID19 pandemic, considering that it is a concept the entire world has been forced to grow accustomed to. Black coffee's masterful beats reverberate the challenges and frustrations that have become consequential with the great Stillness, the greatest frustration of having to be still at a time when movement is the greatest desire. To move towards our loved ones, the greatest versions of ourselves, and anywhere we can escape our present reality. The project takes the listener on a journey that makes their reality fade into the background for a good while, as they get lost in Black Coffee's heavy, syncopated house beats.
